Skive City Archive is the local history archive for the city of Skive and its immediate surroundings, corresponding to the area of the old Skive Municipality before 2007. In addition, we take care of Skive Municipality’s archive.

Anyone interested in local history is welcome to visit our reading room in the Lensmandsstuen at Gammel Skivehus. You can also search our collection on Arkiv.dk. Read more about the City Archive’s collections here.

Sunday in Advent: Mrs. Juhl tells and opens calendar doors in Lensmandsstuen

Listen to Mrs. Juhl talk about a Christmas calendar made from a potato and matches.

Also hear the story of the Christmas goat, the Christmas heart and a special candle on Twelfth Night.

For the entire month of December, a giant advent calendar has been on display in the sheriff’s room at Gammel Skivehus. Every day, schoolchildren from all over Skive Municipality have helped open a door and heard a story about the Christmas story.

In this video, four doors are opened for each Sunday in Advent.

I MÅL MED VIGTIG REDNING AF FLERE 1.000 NEGATIVER

Igennem halvandet år har arkivassistent Martin Marx Lynderup arbejdet på at rense en meget omfattende samling af glasnegativer i Skive Byarkivs samling. Negativerne blev for år tilbage ramt af skimmel som følge af en fugtskade.

Nu er det store arbejde tilendebragt. Rensningen er foregået ved UV-bestråling i et apparat, der kan ligne en miniovn. Martin har under processen været iført heldragt og åndedrætsværn, da skimmel er skadeligt for luftvejene.

Efter UV-bestrålingen er skimlen uskadeliggjort, og negativerne er nu sat på magasin i Rønbjerg. Dermed har Martins indsats sikret utallige historiske billeder af Skiveegnens mennesker for eftertiden.
