Guided tour: A tour around Gl. Skivehus
Saturday, April 22 at 14.00-15.00. Free admission.
In connection with the renovation of the east wing, several archaeological investigations were carried out; the results of these will be in focus. Museum Salling’s archaeologist Turi Thomsen will lead the tour.
For several years, major and minor investigations have been carried out in connection with various wiring works etc. at Skivehus – both inside and out. The tour will try to give an overview of what we actually know about the site, how the written information interacts with the physical traces found at the site. There is still a lot we don’t know, but we are constantly learning more about this very special place in the middle of Skive city. With the announced construction plans at the site, new archaeological investigations may also be underway. There will therefore also be an opportunity to talk to the archaeologist about the museum’s considerations in this connection.
We will gather in the courtyard first and walk all the way around the buildings, ending the tour inside the renovated basement. Feel free to bring coffee/tea, which can be enjoyed after the tour in the renovated garden by the river. In case of bad weather, we can enjoy the coffee standing inside the basement.
